In reference to yesterday's post, why would we have need of suffering? Well, there are several very important things that God uses suffering for, and sometimes we can see the fruits of it in this life, and sometimes we can't. I just want to bring up one possibility, that is really a beautiful possibility. I have read, and heard it suggested, that it is at least possible that those who suffer in this life, for the cause of Christ, might even more fully enjoy the wonders of Heaven, and have a greater reward there. So, if you must suffer in this life, and you are doing so for the cause of Christ, even if you can't see the fruit of it here, it is still worth the ordeal, and God knows what is best for you, even if it seems to be the worst at that time.
On another note, if we are called upon to suffer, let us not squander that suffering on self pity, and feeling sorry for ourselves. Let us use it to grow in our relationship with God, and for the spreading of the Gospel.
My daughter came home from school, and she was upset that they had been talking about Obama on the radio on the way home, and I told her that she couldn't get upset when she hears people talk about him, because he's going to be our President for at least four years, and so, we're going to be hearing about him. That's just reality.
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
